Foundations
The basic structural axes must be set out with great precision as the
whole process of assembling the components depends on this.
The foundations consist of a series of pre-fabricated
500x500x500 mm footings, linked by a continuous 400x400 mm concrete strip
foundation with a high proportion of stone in the mixture. (photo 05)
Metalwork
Set in the footings at 400 mm centres there are four 3/4" ø
galvanized iron tubes which reinforce the joint between the columns and the
footings.(Fig. 15)
Upper Foundations.
The upper foundations consist of 100X200 mm pre-fabricated concrete
beams, set with short lengths of iron on to which the wooden wallplate is
secured. The upper foundations protect the walls from erosion and damp. (Fig.

Columns
The 100x100 mm columns comprise five elements: a 60x60 mm timber
column clad by four 20x80 mm timber planks, glued and nailed.
The structural axes make up a tartan grid with dimensions 3,200
- 400 -3,200 mm
and respective modules.
Beams
Beams are made up of two 20x160 mm timbers, joined by two 40x60 mm
studs, glued and nailed.
